Bacteria in Tissue Paper that is Unused
Use of paper towels is on the increase all over the world with women carrying paper tissues in the hand bags and wiping their face clean whenever they are sweating or feel there is dirt on their face. These paper tissues are considered to be healthier than keeping a hand towel by most ladies. It is a common sight to grab a paper towel from the bag in a rest room but what if such ladies were told that these unused paper tissues were not as clean as they thought but actually contained bacteria that is almost unthinkable.
Researchers have found bacteria, some of them known to be spreading sickness, in paper towels that are unused. What is surprising is that this bacteria not only affects the face of the user but also gets transferred to her hands. Though the research has been published in American Journal of Infection Control, there is no mention of any illnesses thus transferred to ladies using paper towels.
What this research indicates is that people making use of these paper towels need to be extra careful while using them in weekend functions or vacations and in hospital units. Though bacteria has been found in most of the unused tissue papers, the concentration of bacteria was highest in paper towels made of recycled fibers.
