What is Hyperpigmentation?

March 30th, 2010 -- Posted in General, Health care, Tips | No Comments »

Hyperpigmentation is a commont condition in which some areas of the skin are darker then others. This is due to an  excess of melanin (the brown pigment that determines skin color) in certain areas of the skin. There is a 3 type of hyperpigmentation :

Solar lentigo

This is the term doctors use to refer to ‘age’ or ‘liver’ spots. These are flat, brown spots or freckles and generally appear on skin that has been exposed to the sun. People who sunburn easily are more likely to develop this condition.

Melasma

Melasma is similar in appearance to age spots but appear over larger areas. Melasma can appear on the face, abdomen and other part of the body. It is usually the result of hormonal changes, which is why many pregnant women develop it. Women who are on oral contraceptives can also develop this condition due to the hormonal changes.

Freckles

Freckles are small, circular spots on the skin. They are more common among fair-skinned people, particularly after extended exposure to the sun. They vary in color (yellow, reddish or various shades of brown), depending on the individual and are slightly darker then the rest of the skin.

Colon Cleansing – The Natural Way

March 16th, 2010 -- Posted in Health care, Medicine, Tips | No Comments »

It is believed that our colon gets clogged over time if we continue to eat too much. This is because undigested food can cause the buildup of mucus in our colon. This mucus then produces toxins which enter our blood and poisons our body. As a result, we experience headache, low energy, weight gain and fatigue.

There are several health tips about colon cleansing in books and on the Internet, but the best one to follow is the natural way. The first thing we must do is to eat just enough and eat organic foods. This is because foods with pesticide can also cause a clogged colon system. In fact, according to the USDA, there are 12 kinds of vegetables and fruits that contain too much pesticide. These include pear, grapes, lettuce, cherries, kale, capsicum, carrots, celery, apples, peaches and nectarines. Another important thing to remember is take good care of your eating practices and avoid junk foods. As you may already know, junk foods contain too much cholesterol and saturated fats.

While following all of these health tips, drink more water than you do today. Having enough water in your body allows you to have a healthier digestion, making it easier for your body to get rid of toxins. There are also health supplements that can help in cleansing your colon. Ask your doctor about it and get the one that suits you. Bear in mind that our body is God’s gift and we must take good care of it.
